In 2014, I moved to San Marcos, TX to attend college at Texas State University and became a first-generation college student. During my undergraduate tenure, I worked with Upward Bound Trio programs to provide counseling and academic support to low-income high school students to promote their higher education pursuits. In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelors of Art in Psychology with a minor in Social Work. Post-graduation, I worked as a mental health associate for the San Marcos Treatment Center providing direct care services to children and adolescent patients of varying diagnoses. While working alongside teams of competent and effective psychotherapists and psychiatrists, I was inspired to further my professional development and become a licensed therapist. I earned my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Texas in Austin in 2021. During my graduate career, I interned for the University of Texas Domestic Violence Law Clinic to provide case management services to survivors of domestic abuse. I have worked as a clinical therapist in inpatient residential treatment settings, helping adolescent boys and girls learn positive and healthy coping strategies to deal with past traumas, life stressors and difficult feelings. For the past 2 years, I have been a School Social Worker in South Austin providing counseling and case management services to elementary aged students to create a holistic network of support to promote success in and out of the classroom.
I received my licensure as a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) from the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. I provide clinical services under the guidance and supervision of Ashleigh Gore, LCSW-S. I hope to continue to advance my license to become a LCSW in the near future.
