Licensed Professional Associate Counselor
Supervised by Ana María Cabezas, LPC-S, RPT, SEP
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Growing up in South Texas, I have strong roots in the Mexican and Tejano culture. As a young woman raised in these very different cultures, it was difficult to find my place in both. Working as a camp counselor and youth volleyball coach, my goal was to help children feel connected to others and navigate through social and emotional issues.
I moved to Austin in 2006 to attend St. Edwards University and graduated in 2009 with a BA in Psychology. During my time in college, I focused on learning about child development. After graduating I became a teacher specializing in special education. After working in education for 10 years, I went back to school and received my Master's in School Counseling. Throughout my internships and my time as a teacher, I have focused on helping children and adolescents navigate the world around them and learn positive coping skills. For the past 2 years I have worked as a school counselor providing students with social emotional learning and short-term counseling.
I recently received my license as a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate. I am excited to begin my journey in private practice with Ana María Cabezas, LPC-S at Austin Bilingual Therapy. As a counselor, my focus is helping young people develop positive coping skills through Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy using techniques such as play therapy, art, and journaling.
