I moved to Austin in 2006 to attend St. Edwards University and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors of Art in Psychology. During my time in college I focused on learning about child development. After graduation I became a teacher and specialized in special education. After working in education for 10 years I returned to school and received my Masters of Art in School Counseling. Throughout my internships and time as a teacher I focused on helping children and adolescents navigate the world around them and learn positive coping skills. For the past 2 years I have worked as a school counselor providing social emotional learning to students and short term counseling.
Recently I received my licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I am excited to start my journey in private practice under Ana Maria Cabezas, LPC-S at Austin Bilingual Therapy. As a counselor, my approach is to support the youth in building positive coping skills through Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy using techniques like play therapy, art, and journaling.
