Growing up as a first generation child of immigrant parents, I was very interested in people and how their environment shapes who they are and their experiences. As a young adult, I wanted to understand more about how the experiences of being undocumented and first generation impact families and generations. I am passionate about immigrants and I believe they enrich and help our country thrive.
In college, I felt drawn to social work as a way to learn more about humans, our inherent resilience and desire to thrive in the face of adversity. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas. I have been a social worker for almost 15 years in different capacities before discovering that my true passion and calling was advocating for families striving toward stability and safety in the United States through telling their stories.
